Favorite Apple 5 x 7 oil on canvas panel
I had fun doing this painging. I was teasing my friend, Barb, about doing such great paintings with a palette knife. So I have been calling her the, "Knife Master". We painted together last night and this was my first knife painting coached by the "Knife Master". Thanks Barb. We had fun and you are a great teacher. This may be the start of many more palette knife paintings for me. I do like it!!
This painting will be for sale on Daily Paintworks tomorrow. It is also part of my effort to do 30 paintings in 30 days. I'm doing as many as I can handle right now.

Sketch for commission Acrylic on canvas paper
This is a sketch/study for a commission I am painting for a dear friend. Always good to do a study before the painting. It gives you some idea of values and colors to use before the real painting. The commission will be done in oil on gallery canvas.

Punky Bear 5 x 7 oil on canvas board
I have always wanted to paint a colorful bear. Interestingly enough, with the right warm and cool colors you can create form even when the colors are not realistic. This is my version.

Sheba Dog Portrait 9x12 oil on canvas
Pot on a Table Sketch 6 x 8 Graphite
This little sketch was done in my Tuesday art class.
I am making a point to draw more. It would be to my advantage to practice with everyday things.
I have entered the 30 paintings in 30 days challenge on Leslie Saeta's blog, Slices of Life. I'm a little late. You know what they say, "better late than never."
I will be posting all my paintings on this blog and Slices of Life. If I feel they are worthy I will post them on Daily Paintworks for auction.
Thanks for looking at my work.

"Honor and Devotion" by Bev Koldon, Arizona Artist
16x20 oil on canvas Not for Sale |
Big news!!! I won Best in Show with this painting at the Gilbert AZ Constitution Celebration. I wanted to show the emotional relationship between soldier and dog. I was given permission to use a photograph on Kevin Hanrahan's web site. Please visit his site and read about these amazing teams. He gives updates on deployed teams and their experiences. I don't think most of us understand the trust that has develop between these heroic partners.
Please visit his web site at: http://khanrahan.com/
The Best in Show prize was $250. I am donating 100% to US War Dog Assoc. If anyone would like a print of this painting or the original, please let me know. Also, 100% of the sales of prints or the original will go to the same organization. Not sure of the print prices yet. Will keep you informed.
I entered this same painting in the Gilbert Visual Art League February 2014 Show. I won the People's Choice Award. I am thrilled with the response.
